What is Fractional CO2 Resurfacing?

Laser skin resurfacing technology has evolved to now offer Fractional CO2 Resurfacing to provide results for patients with wrinkles, acne scarring, sun damage, pigmented lesions, and age spots, without the discomfort and downtime previously involved with laser peels and resurfacing.  Within days, new skin takes the place of older, sun-damaged skin.  In addition, the laser stimulates new collagen growth, so you will continue to see improvement in your skin's texture and tone for up to nine months.

Reasons for Considering Fractional C02 Resurfacing:

  • Reduce or remove facial wrinkles, creases, and lines.
  • Rejuvenate sun-damaged skin and improve texture,
  • Correct pigmentation problems and spots.
  • Improve skin tone around eyelids, jowls, and neck.
  • Change the appearance of scars.
  • Remove pigmented lesions.
  • Tighten skin that has lost elasticity due to aging.
  • Improve tone and texture on the chest, arms, and hands.

General Procedure

The fractional technology delivers the CO2 laser energy in a pixel-like fashion where microscopic holes are punched into the skin right next to each other via computer-generated patterns.  This fractionated CO2 laser technology delivers microscopic columns of CO2 laser energy across the skin barrier.

The Fractional CO2 Laser is safe for virtually all skin surface areas, including face, neck, chest, back, arms and hands.  There should be minimal discomfort as only topical anesthetics are needed for most individuals and an air cooling system will be provided for your comfort.

Recovery Process

Downtime is relatively short, typically seven days but can be longer.  Following the treatment you will notice swelling and redness which may last several weeks.  Getting plenty of rest will speed up the healing process and recovery time.  Your cosmetic appearance will continue to improve with the stimulation of collagen production.
